The Department of Defense is testing a Laser Medical Pac, to provide battlefield surgeons medics with a compact (7 x 3 x 9, six pound) device that can be used to cut like a scalpel, coagulate bleeding, and close wounds. The battery lasts 20 minutes before needing replacement or recharging. The device was developed by the U.S. Air Force.
